Since 2008, Terminal City Training has provided barbell-focused strength coaching and physical preparation for athletes of various disciplines and for those who just want to be strong and healthy.
Our training home, The Terminal City Barbell Club, was opened in 2010.
Some are just learning the ropes or are training to help them perform well in their sport of choice, while others lift for fun or simply like to be strong and healthy. Some of us compete in strength sports while others train for the mountains or endurance challenges.
We have a pretty wide spectrum of community members: athletes, seniors, lgbt, millennials, first responders, vegans, hunters.
The environment is Spartan. The attitude is co-operative and friendly.

Coach Bio: Al Heinemann

I am the father of two young girls and when not coaching I am spending time with my family or exploring the mountains, or both.
In the early days of the gym I focused on training raw powerlifters and weightlifters and so have some preparation and platform coaching experience in both disciplines. In powerlifting I coached several provincial champions and am proud to have been a proponent and coach of female lifters when very few females stepped up to the platform.
I have experience as a competitive age-group distance runner, running coach, and for the last several years as a track coach for elementary school children.
Over the past 15 years I have coached many, many individuals in the fundamental barbell lifts. Avoiding a specific niche discipline I have focused on barbell lifts more broadly with a sense of being a part of the long history of the physical culture movement. I have developed my gym philosophy along these lines, creating a space where all kinds of lifters and athletes train together in a spirit of mutual assistance and friendship.
My own athletic background is broad, spanning the range from infantry soldier, distance runner, martial artist, to tactical athlete. My current personal initiatives lean towards mountaineering, mountain hunting, tactical athleticism and grip strength competition.
