Bio - Al Heinemann
I have a varied athletic and academic background. As a young man of seventeen I entered the Canadian Armed Forces and underwent basic training and infantry trade training as a reservist.
I have trained to varying degrees in a broad spectrum of classical and modern martial arts including those of Japanese, Chinese, Filipino and western origin. My recent commitment in this regard is to a classical Japanese school of grappling and weaponry.
While undertaking my honours degree in English literature at the University of Victoria I became involved in training with the varsity cross-country team, while specializing in road-racing. From this experience I went on to work for several years in a premiere running specialty-store where I immersed myself in training and the methodologies of training distance runners. At the same time I was still immersed in martial arts practice and study. My martial arts research exposed me to contemporary and traditional strength and conditioning practices.
I now live in East Vancouver with my small family. Here I strive, in my capacity as a personal trainer, strength & conditioning coach and running coach, to do everything I can to help my clients achieve their performance, fitness and life goals.
I am a certified Personal Trainer Specialist with Can-Fit-Pro.
