Welcome! We are in process of moving here from our old Sparta Athletics site.

The summer has been great so far. I am working with a group of three East-siders three times a week in the local parks where we are performing a big variety of work incorporating strength training and metabolic conditioning. We have just completed the anatomical adaptation phase of the training and now work will get progressively harder throughout August! The three athletes have varied capabilities and training histories and we have met the challenge of running workouts that are appropriate and effective for every member of the training group. One member competes in roller-derby, another primarily as a stopper in soccer and the other is laying the foundations for her debut in recreational league adult hockey.

On a more personal note, I have begun the long process of studying to take the NSCA CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) exam. This is likely the most highly regarded certification that I can aim for. The textbook alone comprises 641 pages!
